1.6.7. Operation of "Multitronic"
Start-off from the place
Press and hold a brake pedal.
Holding pressed the blocking button (on a control lever), establish a control lever in situation "D" and release the blocking button.
Wait until automatic equipment executes inclusion, having created power short circuit of the transmission with driving wheels (at the time of inclusion the little push is notable).
Release a pedal of a brake and press an accelerator pedal.
Stop the car a brake pedal.
Press and hold a brake pedal (for example, at traffic lights) so that idling to exclude the spontaneous movement of the car forward or back.
At the same time do not press an accelerator pedal.
For start-off from the place on rises to avoid the spontaneous movement of the car, tighten the emergency brake.
Press and hold a brake pedal.
Completely tighten the emergency brake.
Holding pressed the blocking button, establish a control lever in situation "P" and release the blocking button.
The engine it is possible get only when finding a control lever in situation "P" or "N".
At the parking out of the blue establish a control lever in situation "P" enough. At a considerable slope of the road tighten at first completely emergency brake and only then transfer a control lever to situation "P". Thanks to it load of the mechanism of blocking decreases and moving of a control lever from situation "P" is facilitated.
At the switching which is carried out before start-off from the place and the working engine, do not press an accelerator pedal.
Remember that at short-term stops with the established control lever in situation "D", "S" or "R" completely kinematic communication of the engine with wheels does not disappear. Therefore at stops hold respectively the car a brake pedal, and at start-off from the place to use the emergency brake as the help to exclude the spontaneous movement of the car.
During the movement never establish a control lever in situation "R" or "P".
Provisions of a control lever

The allocated indication of actual position of a control lever is brought to the display of a combination of devices. Indication of the included transfer in addition is published in provisions "D" and "S".
"Р" – parking blocking
In this situation driving wheels are blocked mechanically. Parking blocking is allowed to be included only on the motionless car.
For installation of a control lever in situation "P" and its movings from this situation press the blocking button (on a control lever) and at the same time a brake pedal.
"R" – transfer of a backing
At installation of a control lever this situation joins transfer of a backing.
Transfer of a backing is allowed to be included only on the motionless car and during the operation of the engine in the idling mode. For installation of a control lever in situation "R" press the button of blocking and at the same time a brake pedal. At the included ignition and finding of a control lever in situation "R" backing headlights burn.
"N" – neutral situation (the provision of idling)
This situation is the provision of idling.
"D" – a basic position at advance
In this situation switching to the raised and lowered steps of the forward course is carried out automatically, depending on loading of the engine, speed and the dynamic program of switching (DSP). From situation "N" in situation "D" at a speed less than 5 km/h or the motionless car it is necessary for the translation of a control lever press a brake pedal.
For a possibility of manual reduction in compliance of transfer number to traffic conditions, under certain circumstances, (for example, at the movement in mountains or with the trailer) it is more preferable to switch to the manual program of switching temporarily.
"S" – sports situation
Establish a control lever in situation "S" at the movement in the sports mode. Later switching to the raised steps allows to use engine capacity reserves completely. For the translation of a control lever from situation "N" in situation "S" at a speed less than 5 km/h or the motionless car press a brake pedal
At the inadvertent transfer during the movement of a control lever to situation "N" before returning to the D or S mode, to dump gas and wait for falling of turns to the idling mode.
For the reasons of fuel consumption and environmental protection on some modifications transmission is arranged so that the maximum speed of the car is reached only in situation "S".
Blocking of a control lever
Blocking of a control lever prevents involuntary inclusion of range of the movement and by that the spontaneous movement of the car from the place.
Press a pedal of a brake and hold at the same time pressed the blocking button.
Automatic blocking of a control lever
At the included ignition the control lever is blocked in situation "P" and "N". For moving it from these provisions press a brake pedal. As a reminder to the driver when finding a control lever the following indication is published in provisions "P" and "N" on the display: "Beim Einlegen einer Fahrstufe im Stand Fussbremse betatigen" (at the choice of the mode of the movement of the motionless car press a brake pedal).
Besides, on the coulisse of a control lever the Pik_39 symbol (automatic blocking of a control lever) lights up.
The control lever is blocked only on the motionless car, and also at a speed up to 5 km/h. At a speed approximately from 5 km/h and there is an automatic cancellation of blocking of the control lever which is in situation "N" above.
At bystry (without pauses) the translation of a control lever through situation "N" (for example, from situation "R" in situation "D") the control lever is not blocked. It gives, for example, the chance of the movement "vraskachku" of the got stuck car. If the control lever at the released pedal of a brake is more than 1 with in situation "N", then it is blocked.
The button of blocking of a control lever interferes with involuntary transfer of a control lever to some provisions. When pressing this button the control lever is deblocked.
Blocking of a key in the ignition lock
After switching off of ignition a key it is possible take from the lock only when finding a control lever in situation "P" (parking blocking). After extraction of a key from the lock the lever is blocked in situation "P".
The Kick-down device allows to realize the maximum acceleration.
By sharp pressing of a pedal of an accelerator with transition of a point of resistance automatic equipment switches, depending on turns and speed, to a low gear. Switching to the following overgear happens right after achievement of the maximum frequency of rotation of a shaft of the engine, the corresponding this transfer.
Remember that on the slippery road skidding of driving wheels at operation of the Kick-down device is possible.
Dynamic program of switching (DSP)
The control of the automatic transmission is carried out by electronics. Switching to the raised and low gears is carried out according to the programs of the movement which are stored in memory.
At a reserved manner of driving automatic equipment chooses the economic program of switching. Early transition to overgears and late – on lowered favorably influences fuel consumption.
At a dynamic manner of driving with sharp dispersals and frequent differences of speed, or after sharp pressing a pedal of an accelerator ("Kick-down") automatic equipment works with use of the maximum speed in the range of sports programs. Late transition to overgears allows to realize an engine capacity stock completely. Switching to low gears is carried out at higher turns of the engine.
The choice of the optimum program of the movement on specific conditions represents continuous process. However irrespective of it it is possible to switch to more sports program, having sharply pressed an accelerator pedal. At the same time the transmission switches to the lowered step corresponding to the actual speed of the movement, providing a possibility of dynamic dispersal (for example, when overtaking) without the need for sharp pressing against the stop to an accelerator pedal. After the return switching to the raised step and at the corresponding mode of driving work on the initial program is restored.
The program of the movement in mountains operates the choice of transfers on rises and descents. Thanks to it it is not required to switch at the movement to rise. Pressing of a pedal of a brake at the movement under a bias carries out switching to the lowered step. Thereof it is possible to brake the engine, without resorting to manual switching.
The Tiptronic system gives to the driver the chance of also manual gear shifting.
Switching to the manual mode
Wring out a control lever from situation "D" to the right. At the included manual mode on the display indication "6–5–4–3–2–1" with allocation of the transfer included at present appears.

When translating a control lever forward (in situation "Tiptronic") there is a switching to overgears (fig. 1.151)
Switching to low gears
When translating a control lever back (in situation "Tiptronic") there is a switching to low gears.
It is possible to switch to the manual mode both during the movement, and during the parking.
At dispersal at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 steps the box will automatically switch to the following raised step shortly before achievement of the maximum turns of the engine.
When switching from the raised step automatic equipment will only switch to lowered after there is impossible a peddling increase in turns of the engine.
During the operation of the Kick-down device transmission switches to the following lowered step depending on speed and the frequency of rotation of a shaft of the engine.
