1.6.15. The movement with the trailer

The traction coupling device has to conform to certain requirements.
The factory complete set of the car the traction coupling device provides also all necessary for operation of the trailer according to technical and standard requirements.
For electric connection between the car and the trailer the car is completed with the 13-polar plug socket. In the presence on the trailer of a 7-contact plug fork it is possible to use the corresponding cable adapter which is available at the Audi enterprises.
Postfactory installation of the traction coupling device has to conform to requirements of the manufacturer of this device.

The mass of the towed freight
Do not exceed the admissible maximum mass of the towed freight at all.
If the most admissible mass of the trailer is not used completely, then it is possible to overcome rises with the bigger size of a bias.
Standard values of mass of the towed freight are valid only at the height up to 1000 m above sea level. With increase in height the razryazhennost of air raises and respectively the engine capacity and, as a result, ability to breaching of rises decreases. Therefore to reduce the mass of the road train by 10% through each 1000 m of rise. The mass of the road train is the sum of mass (loaded) car and mass (loaded) trailer.
The data on basic loading specified in the name plate of the traction coupling device are its control sizes. Given which can be often lower than these sizes it is possible to find in registration documents of the car.

Placement of freight
Distribute freight of the trailer so that the heaviest objects settled down whenever possible closer to its bridge. Besides, fix freight not to allow its shift at the movement.
To use the permissible basic load transferred to a spherical head through дышло the trailer whenever possible completely, but not to exceed.

Pressure in tires
Install pressure in car tires corresponding to its full load see the plate of pressure of air in tires on a door rack. If necessary to modify also pressure of air of tires of the trailer according to recommendations of his manufacturer.

External mirrors
If serial rear-view mirrors do not provide a sufficient rearview, it is necessary to establish additional external mirrors. Both external mirrors have to fasten on the put arms. So adjust the provision of mirrors that the sufficient rearview was provided.

Prior to the movement check at the attached trailer and if necessary modify installation of headlights by means of the device of regulation of a tilt angle of headlights.

Removable spherical head
The removable spherical head of the traction coupling device of a factory complete set is together with the installation guide in a niche of a spare wheel of a luggage carrier.

At intensive operation of the trailer it is recommended to a thicket to undergo maintenance, than it is provided by the service book.
The movement with the trailer demands extra care.

With increase in speed dynamic properties of the road train worsen. Therefore under adverse road, weather and aerodynamic conditions do not use the maximum speed allowed by traffic regulations. It especially concerns the movement under a bias. At once reduce speed at the slightest signs of fluctuations of the trailer of rather cross axis. Do not try "to level" the road train increase in speed at all.
You brake in due time At the trailer with the inertial brake system you brake in the beginning softly, and then smoothly. It will help to avoid pushes the blocked trailer wheels. For use of a possibility of braking by the engine the movement under a bias has to be preceded by timely switching to a low gear. The stabilizing devices reduce fluctuations of the trailer of rather cross axis and its wagging. Therefore it is recommended to use these devices (especially with a big mass of the trailer).

You monitor indication of temperature of cooling liquid at very high external temperature and the movement on long rise on a low gear and with high frequency rotations of a shaft of the engine. When calling an arrow on the right part of a scale reduce speed at once. At a blinking in a combination of devices of an alarm lamp stop and cool the engine, having allowed it to work as several minutes idling.
When using hinged components and accessories (for example, arms for bicycles) it is necessary to take information below into account.
The most admissible departure (ledge) of accessory / a hinged component of a spherical head should not exceed 700 mm.
The most admissible full weight (the bearing system, including payload) makes 75 kg.
The maximum payload depends on location of the center of gravity.
With increase in distance of the center of gravity of payload of rather spherical head admissible full weight decreases.
The following values are allowed:
– at distance of 300 mm value of full weight (including the bearing system) makes 75 kg;
– at distance of 600 mm value of full weight (including the bearing system) makes 35 kg.
Use only of arms for bicycles on which it is possible to mount at most three bicycles is allowed.

Use of hinged components and accessories on the traction coupling device
It is recommended use only the hinged components authorized by Audi concern (for example, kroshteyna for the bicycle). If other hinged components are used, be convinced that they are authorized by the manufacturer of hinged components for use on a spherical head. When using improper hinged components damage of the traction coupling device is possible. In an extreme case of damage can lead to destruction of the traction coupling device.
