2.9.17. Check of adjustment of phases of gas distribution

Shift of a cam-shaft of inlet valves happens depending on loading and turns. At the expense of the electromagnetic valve of system of change of phases of gas distribution on the corresponding phase shifter oil under pressure (the mechanical device of shift) moves.

NOTE The system of change of phases of gas distribution can be involved only through 25 from later start of the engine.

Check of electromagnetic valves of regulation of phases of gas distribution

Disconnect the socket 3 from the valve of 1 regulation of phases of gas distribution (fig. 2.468).

Turn off a broad tank of the cooling system.

Disconnect the electric wire conducting to the lower switch of the indicator of low level of cooling liquid and to set aside aside a broad tank with the connected hoses.

Disconnect the shtekerny socket 2 from the valve 2 regulations of phases of gas distribution (fig. 2.469).

Connect a multimeter for measurement of resistance on the valve (fig. 2.470).

Preset value: 8–13 Ohms.

If the preset value is not reached, replace the valve.

If the preset value is normal, check giving of power supply.

Safety lock of the valve of regulation of phases of gas distribution

it has to be serviceable.

The relay of food Motronic J271 has to be serviceable.

NOTE Giving of food on the valve of regulation of phases of gas distribution is made via Motronic J271 food relay.

Connect a tester of tension of V.A.G 1527 B as follows.

Start for a short time a starter.

The light-emitting diode has to light up.

If the light-emitting diode does not light up, according to the scheme of electric equipment check lack of break of the cable connection going from contact 1 through a safety lock to Motronic food relay – J271.

If necessary eliminate damage of connection of wires.

If the light-emitting diode lit up, check excitement.

Connect a tester of tension of V.A.G 1527 B to contacts 1 (plus) and 2 shtekerny sockets.

Connect a tester of VAS 5051 A and to choose in the menu of systems of the 01-Electronics of the engine car. Ignition has to be included.

In the field of the choice 1 you will choose diagnostics function "03 – Stellglieddiagnose/03 – Diagnostics of an executive element" (fig. 2.471).

Press the button> until the valve of 1 regulation of phases of gas distribution turns on.

The light-emitting diode has to blink.

Press the button> until the valve 2 regulations of phases of gas distribution turns on.

The light-emitting diode has to blink.

Finish the 03-Diagnostics of an executive element function by a contact <Keys.

Press on "06 – Ausgabe beenden/Finish a conclusion of data".

Switch off ignition.

If the light-emitting diode does not blink or long time burns, connect the switchboard to shtekerny sockets of a plait of wires, do not connect the control unit of the engine. Connect the switchboard plug to weight (it is not represented in the figure 2.472).

ATTENTION To avoid damage of electronic components, before connection of wires of measuring devices it is necessary establish on them the corresponding range of measurement and follow rules of performing diagnostics.

Check other connections of wires for existence of break and short circuit on "weight" or plus.

Valve 2 adjustments of phases of gas distribution

If necessary eliminate damage of connection of wires.

If connection of wires as it should be, replace the engine control unit.

If malfunction is not found, replace the mechanical phase shifter.
