2.1. General information
On the Audi cars are established four - six – and eight-cylinder engines. On four-cylinder engines cylinders are located in one plane, and on six-cylinder engines cylinders are located in two planes, at an angle 90 ° to each other (V6). Cooling of engines is made by cooling liquid. Engines settle down in a motive compartment along a car axis. The block of cylinders is manufactured of cast iron. The head of the block of cylinders is made of light aluminum alloy and bolts fastens to the block of cylinders. In a head of the block of cylinders steel guides and saddles of valves are pressed. To the lower part of the block of cylinders of the engine the pallet of a case in which the oil necessary for lubricant and cooling of the engine flows down fastens.
In petrol engines the scheme of a cross stream at which fuel-air mix comes to engine cylinders on the one hand of the engine is used, and exhaust gases are removed on the other side of the engine. At such design of the engine filling of cylinders with fuel-air mix and removal of products of combustion considerably improves. On diesel engines for economy of the place the inlet pipeline and a final collector are located on the one hand heads of the block of cylinders.
