4.1.22. Loss of pressure of air in tires

NOTE
It is not recommended to repair the radial tires with a steel cord having damage of a framework by a foreign subject.
There can be a corrosion on a steel wire. It leads to peeling of rubber from a steel cord.
As a rule, to find out when it was run down a foreign subject, it is impossible. As a result damage of a framework of the tire because of driving with insufficient pressure in the tire can take place.
Damage leads a cord provolok to peeling of rubber from a steel cord sooner or later. In the investigation of it after a while, much later, than there was an initial damage, there can be a nonrestorable damage of the tire.

Air pressure in the tire
Air pressure in tires needs to be checked regularly. It is recommended to control pressure in tires with frequency of 14 days. Special attention should be paid to this question at trips on long distances or at load of the car. Sports style of driving also demands the correct pressure in tires or even slightly bigger.

Slow sinking of the tire
Slow sinking of the tire is an opsny phenomenon as even skilled drivers often do not notice it.
Because of the insufficient pressure of air in the tire and the related bigger work of side deformation (internal friction) materials of the tire heat up so strongly that flaking of various elements of a framework and rubber mixes is not excluded.
Final stage most often is completely destroyed tire.
The reason of slow sinking of the tire not always manages to be found out as as a result the tire is strongly damaged, and quite often there are no framework elements.

Growth of temperature of the tire with an insufficient pressure

Fig. 4.25. Change of temperature of the tire at a speed of 180 km/h

The schedule shows change of temperature of the tire at a speed of 180 km/h (fig. 4.25).
A – Normal range. Bei Einhalten des vorgeschriebenen Luftdrucks bleibt die Temperatur im Gleichgewicht.
B – Dangerous zone. At shortage of pressure of air temperature increases in the tire of 0,3 bars over 120 °C at high speeds.
C – Critical temperature. Damage of the tire begins.
T – Temperature in °C.
t – Driving time in minutes.
