3.3.3. Check of level of ATF oil and its filling

NOTE
The left top drawing on a tank of device for filling of ATF for KP CVT VAS 5162 indicates that for KP CVT requires ATF special oil.

Besides in the figure 3.78 necessary stages of gas station which are described as follows are represented.

ATTENTION
It is impossible to start the engine if after carrying out repair or after a considerable exit of ATF in KP there is a small amount of ATF.
In this case it is necessary to fill in 4,5–5 l of ATF previously.

Check conditions
KP cannot leave in the damaged state.
The car has to is on a lifting platform or over a hole for car repairs absolutely horizontally.
The engine has to work at single turns.
The conditioner and heater have to be switched off.

NOTE
The ATF level depends on ATF temperature.
Check of the ATF level at a low temperature leads to overflow.
Check of the ATF level at high temperature leads to not filling.
Overflow on the rayena with not filling breaks functioning of KP.
Temperature of ATF is read out on the diagnostic VAS 5051 A complex.

NOTE
The ATF level is checked on a control bolt of ATF.

The ATF level is normal if in an interval between 35 and 45 °C (for the countries with hot climate of 50 °C) ATF temperatures on a control bolt a small amount of liquid still acts (it is caused by rise in level of liquid when heating).
Fill the device for filling of ATF for KP CVT VAS 5162 with ATF oil for KP CVT.

ATTENTION
The system of ATF gas station has to be pure and ATF oil should not mix up with other ATF oils.

Fix the filled tank of device for filling of ATF for KP CVT VAS 5162 most highly on the car (fig. 3.79).

NOTE
The crane the device for filling of ATF for KP CVT VAS 5162 has to be closed.

Switch at the pressed brake pedal the automatic transmission selector through all provisions ("P", "R", "N", "D", "S") during the operation of the engine on turns of idling and remain in each provision about 2 pages.

Open latches 2 and 3 and remove a back part of a noise isolation (fig. 3.1).
Put under KP capacity for oil discharge.

On reaching temperature of ATF of 35 °C, turn off a control bolt of ATF B (fig. 3.80).

NOTE
When untwisting a bolt the internal tube of the index of level of oil at first always leaves about 5 ml of ATF.

If ATF continues to arrive through a perepuskny tube from a control opening of ATF before temperature of ATF reaches 40 °C, the level of ATF oil is normal.
Replace a control bolt of ATF and tighten it. Inhaling moment: 20 N · m.

NOTE
The control bolt of ATF needs to be turned at a temperature not above 45 °C (for the countries with hot climate of 50 °C).
If at a temperature of ATF above 45 °C excessively large number of ATF, KP acts it is filled insufficiently.

On it control of ATF is finished.
Finish the "08-to Consider the block of the measured sizes" function by pressing of the button.
Press "06 – End of a conclusion".
Switch off ignition and disconnect the diagnostic socket.
If to 40 °C on a control bolt there is no ATF, to fill in ATF.

Turn the crane handle in the direction of a filling hose. ATF flows down in KP (fig. 3.81).

NOTE
The engine has to work at single turns.
Screw a shutser of the crane of device for filling of ATF for KP CVT VAS 5162 in an opening of a control bolt of ATF B (fig. 3.80).

For KP CVT VAS 5162 you keep the tank suitable for this purpose under the crane of device for filling of ATF.

Rotation of the handle in the direction of the crane check the ATF level (the lower arrow) (fig. 3.82).
The ATF level is normal if from the crane up to the temperature of 45 °C oil slightly drips.

NOTE
The internal tube of the index of level of oil at first always leaves about 5 ml of ATF.

If ATF does not follow from a control opening, turn the crane handle back in the direction of a filling hose and add ATF, repeatedly check the ATF level.
When the ATF level is normal, again unscrew the crane.

NOTE
After untwisting of the crane, ATF slightly leaks.

Replace a control bolt of ATF and tighten it.
Inhaling moment: 20 N · m

NOTE
The control bolt of ATF B needs to be turned at a temperature no more than 45 °C (for the countries with hot climate of 50 °C) (fig. 3.80).
If at a temperature of ATF above 45 °C as a result of heating excessively large number of ATF, KP acts it is filled insufficiently.

Finish the "08-to Consider the block of the measured sizes" function by pressing of the button.
Press "06 – End of a conclusion".
Switch off ignition and disconnect the diagnostic socket.

Contact corrosion
The KP case of stepless automatic KP multitronic 01J consists of magnesian alloy.
The bolts and other elements which are directly contacting to KP have a surface which adjoins to the KP case consisting of magnesium.
On KP consisting of magnesium it is always necessary to replace bolts on the following bolt connections: KP cover to the KP case and a cover of the main transfer to the KP case.
At application of inappropriate elements (bolts, nuts, washers) there is a contact corrosion. The KP case is damaged.
Besides, the KP case, a cover of KP and a cover of differential have to consist of identical material.
If there are doubts in a possibility of repeated application of details, then in this case it is better to establish new.
