2.2.6. Check and, if necessary, refueling of cooling liquid

NOTE
In all new engines new G 12 Plus cooling liquid according to TL VW 774 F (lilac color) is filled in. G 12 Plus can be mixed with the G 11 and G 12 cooling liquids (red color) applied earlier However follows pay attention that in connection with improvement of quality for a dolivka use only G 12 Plus cooling liquid.
G 12 Plus cooling liquid is suitable for filling in engines with blocks from gray cast iron and tselnoalyuminiyevy engines for all term of their operation and is optimum protection of the engine against a frost, corrosion and an overheat.
G 12 Plus cooling liquid raises a boiling point to 135 °C and provides the best heat removal.
The share of cooling liquid has to make not less than 40% (frost resistance to –25 °C) and no more than 60% (frost resistance to –40 °C), differently decrease its protective qualities and the cooling action worsens.

Frost resistance has to be provided at a temperature approximately to –25 °C.
Check antifreeze level, if necessary add cooling liquid

NOTE
Values for the check described below are specified in the table of light-and-shade borders. For more evident definition of light-and-shade border to apply with a pipette a water drop on glass. The light-and-shade border accurately is determined by "WATERLINE".

Check concentration of cooling liquid by means of the refractometer (Observe indications of the operation manual).
The scale of 1 refractometer is valid for G 12 cooling liquids; G12 Plus and G 11.

Fig. 2.33. Scales of a refraktomer

The scale 2 is valid only for G 13 cooling liquid (initial L80) (fig. 2.33).

NOTE
Frost resistance has to be provided at a temperature about -25 °C.
If on climatic conditions use of antifreeze with higher coefficient of frost resistance is required, then the share of G 12 Plus can be increased, but only to 60% (frost resistance about -40 °C), differently its protective qualities decrease and the cooling action worsens.
At too insufficient frost resistance of antifreeze merge the difference of volumes specified in the table of use of antifreezes and add G 12 Plus.

After carrying out a trial trip check concentration of cooling liquid again.
Check antifreeze level, if necessary add cooling liquid

Fig. 2.34. Levels on the tank case with cooling liquid

Check the level of cooling liquid in a tank at the cold engine (fig. 2.34).

NOTE
At leak of the cooling liquid which is not caused by service conditions find out and remove its cause.

NOTE
Additive of G 12 Plus cooling liquid according to TL VW 774 F protects from the damages caused by freezing, corrosion, lime application and, besides, increases boiling temperature. In this regard the cooling system has to be all the year round filled with liquid for protection of a radiator against freezing and corrosion.
Thanks to the raised boiling point cooling liquid promotes increase in an operational resource of the engine at high loadings, especially in the countries with tropical climate.
Even in hot season or at operation of the car in tropical countries do not reduce concentration of cooling liquid. The share of cooling liquid has to make at least 40%.

2.2.5. Replacement of spark plugs

2.2.7. Removal of a cover of a motor compartment
