2.2.2. Cleaning of the case and replacement of the filtering element of the vzdushny filter

NOTE
In an airintaking branch pipe And some versions of engines the snow protection grid is established. Surely remove and clear a snow protection grid (fig. 2.1).

4-tsit. diesel engines of 1.9 l of TDI and 2.0 TDI
Unscrew bolts.

Remove an air duct of 2 (fig. 2.2).

Weaken both bolts of 1 (fig. 2.3).
Get the top part of the air filter from fastening and remove to the engine.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

4-tsit. petrol engines of 1.6 l and 2,0 l of FSI
Unscrew bolts.
Remove an air duct of 2 (fig. 2.2).
Remove a branch pipe of inlet air 4 and disconnect the shtekerny socket 3 from an air flowmeter.

Weaken both bolts 2 in the top part of the air filter and remove it, having pulled (fig. 2.4) up.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

4-tsit. petrol engines 2.0 FSI with a turbo-supercharging
Unscrew bolts (fig. 2.2).
Remove an air duct of 2 (fig. 2.3).
Disconnect the shtekerny socket from an air flowmeter.
Weaken a collar of fastening of an airwater hose to a turbocharger and and disconnect it from an air flowmeter.
Weaken both bolts 1 in the top part of the air filter and remove it, having pulled up.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

4-tsit. petrol engines of 1,8 l 5V with a turbo-supercharging
Unscrew bolts.
Remove an air duct of 2 (fig. 2.2).
Weaken hose collars 1 and remove a branch pipe from the tank valve with absorbent carbon.

Completely remove a branch pipe 3 and weaken both bolts of 2 (fig. 2.5).
Take out the top part of the air filter from fastening and remove to the engine.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

6-tsit. petrol engines of 3,0 l
Disconnect the magnetic valve of the tank with absorbent carbon 1 from an air duct (fig. 2.2).
To turn off bolts.
Remove an air duct 2.

Remove a branch pipe of inlet air 4 and disconnect the shtekerny socket 3 from a flowmeter of air (fig. 2.6).
Take out both fuel-supply lines from fastening in the top part of the air filter.
Separate tubes in the place of their connection 1.
Weaken both bolts 2 in the top part of the air filter and remove it, having pulled up.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

8-tsit. petrol engines of 4,2 l of MPI
Disconnect the magnetic valve of the tank with absorbent carbon 1 from an air duct.
To turn off bolts.
Remove an air duct of 2 (fig. 2.2).
Remove a branch pipe of an admission of air 4 and disconnect the shtekerny socket 3 from an air flowmeter.

Remove a wire 1 and weaken both bolts of 2 (fig. 2.7).
Take out both fuel-supply lines from an arm in the top part of the air filter and remove them, having pulled up.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

8-tsit. petrol engines of 4,2 l (RS4)
Disconnect a fuel-supply line 1 from the top part of the air filter.
Turn off bolts (fig. 2.2).
Remove an air duct 2.
Weaken hose collars 2 and remove an air admission branch pipe from the top part of the air filter.
Disconnect the shtekerny socket 1 from an air flowmeter.
Remove hose connection from arms.
Weaken bolts 5 and remove the top part of the air filter, having pulled it up.
Take out the old filtering element.
Clear the case of the filter and establish the new filtering element.
Further assembly is carried out in the return sequence.

NOTE
At strong pollution of the filtering element of a particle of dirt or moisture can get to a flowmeter of air and change values of the measured mass of air. It causes the power deceleration caused by reduction of amount of injectable fuel.
Establish only the original filtering element.
Before installation be convinced of lack of lubricant and oil on branch pipes and hoses of system of pressurization. At installation do not apply lubricant with silicone.
The case of the air filter has to be surely cleared.
For fastening of all connections of hoses use the corresponding standard collars.
At a purge of the case of the air filter compressed air follow the listed below rules.
In order to avoid emergence of malfunctions, the main air-conducting knots, such as air ducts, etc., cover with pure rags.
Check a hose for discharge of water in the lower part of the air filter for lack of pollution (if necessary clean).

Check lack of deposits of salt, dirt and leaves in a flowmeter of air and an airintaking branch pipe (from an admission of clean air).
Check lack of dirt and leaves in an air duct from the forward closing body panel to the case of the air filter.
At installation of the filtering element control its installation precisely on the center of an arm in the lower part of the air filter.
Accurately, without making big effort, establish the top part of the air filter on the filtering element. At the same time you watch that the top part of the air filter was established without shift. Pay attention to the correct adjusting provision of a sealing edge of the filtering element.
Pay attention to reliability of fastening of an airintaking branch pipe to an air flowmeter.
Observe instructions on utilization.
