7.2.5. Removal and installation of the rechargeable battery in a luggage carrier

ATTENTION On cars with the Telematik system before shutdown of joint stock bank activate an operating mode of the Telematik control unit. For the cars equipped with the radio tape recorder / radio navigational system with a protective code (only cars of other producers), consider a protective code, if necessary request it.

Switch off ignition and pull out the ignition key.

Lift and fix a rug of a luggage compartment.

Take the profile plug 5 behind the accumulator the movement (fig. 7.10) up.

Turn off a nut 6 on several turns and disconnect a weight wire from a polar conclusion.

Cast away a cover 2 positive poles up.

Turn off a nut 1 on several turns and disconnect a positive wire from a polar conclusion (fig. 7.10).

Disconnect a hose of the 7th central gas outlet.

Unscrew the screw 4 on a fixing bracket 3 accumulators (fig. 7.10).

Take the accumulator from a level of fastening of the console of joint stock bank.

Take joint stock bank from a luggage carrier.

ATTENTION At utilization of accumulators surely observe instructions on utilization of accumulators and sulfuric acid.

Accumulators of the program of Audi spare parts have a basic level adapter for adaptation to various level of fastening. Information on existence and a way of use of a basic level adapter is provided in the operation manual on the accumulator.

NOTE Only installation of the accumulators which are not demanding technical leaving according to the TL82506 standard (since December, 1997) and "VW75073" is allowed (since August, 2001).

Insert the accumulator into an arm.

The basic level of 1 case of joint stock bank has to enter a guide 2 arms of fastening of joint stock bank (fig. 7.11).

Joint stock bank should not move more.

Establish a fixing bracket 3 accumulators (fig. 7.10).

The ledge in a fixing bracket of joint stock bank has to enter dredging on a basic level of the case of joint stock bank.

Tighten bolts 4 fixing brackets of the battery (fig. 7.10).

Spread a hose of the 7th central gas outlet of joint stock bank, observe instructions.

Connect plugs of joint stock bank at the switched-off ignition and the disconnected electroconsumers in the following sequence.

First of all manually get a polar tip of a positive wire on a positive pole of the + accumulator and tighten a nut of 1 (fig. 7.10).

Close a cover 2 positive poles.

Manually get a polar tip of a wire of weight on a negative pole of the - accumulator and tighten a nut of 6 (fig. 7.10).

After installation check reliability of fastening of joint stock bank.

If wires are connected to plugs of the accumulator repeatedly, it is necessary to execute the following events.

NOTE If the joint stock bank is connected repeatedly, it is necessary to take care of activating the devices which are included in the car package (the radio tape recorder, radio navigational system, hours, power windows) according to the operation manual.

Deactivate an operating mode of the Telematik control unit.

Check functioning of remote radio control, if necessary, synchronize a radio code.

After repeated connection of power supply the alarm lamp of ESP dies away only through several meters of the movement.

The screw to a fixing bracket of joint stock bank: 12 N · m.

The accumulator plug to a polar conclusion: 7,5 N · m.
