6.3.3. Removal and installation of brake shoes

Removal
Lift the car.
Remove wheels.

NOTE
Mark brake shoes if they are reused. They have to be established back on the places, otherwise there will be an unevenness of distribution of brake efforts between wheels.

The brake disk is protected by the Torx screw.

Remove caps (fig. 6.34).

In the car with the index of wear of brake shoes disconnect the socket 1 (fig. 6.29).
Slightly raise a fixing loop on the lower part of the plug 2, and then turn on 90 °.
Take the lower part of the plug from the holder.

Hook a fixing spring of blocks from the case of a brake support the screw-driver and remove its (fig. 6.35).

Unscrew both directing a finger from a brake support and take their (fig. 6.36).
Remove the case of a brake support and to put it so that it did not load with the weight a brake hose and did not damage it.
Take a brake shoe from the case of a brake support and from a bracket holder.

Installation

Press the piston (fig. 6.32).
For cleaning of the case of a brake support use only alcohol.

NOTE
Before installation of new brake shoes press the piston into the cylinder by means of the special tool. Before cave-in pump out brake fluid from a tank with brake fluid by means of capacity for pumping. Otherwise, in case of the subsequent doliv of liquid, it can flow out and cause damages.

Insert a brake shoe with the holding spring into the case of a brake support (piston) (fig. 6.37).

NOTE
The internal block (with an expansion spring) is designated by an arrow. The arrow has to specify in the direction of rotation of a brake disk when driving directly. The wrong installation can result in the increased noisiness when braking.

Remove a protective film from a back wall of an external brake shoe.
Establish an external brake shoe in a bracket holder.
Fasten the case of a brake support with both directing fingers to an arm of a brake support with the moment of 25 N · m.
Establish both caps.
Insert a fixing spring into the case of a brake support.
Connect the socket of the indicator of wear of brake shoes.
After replacement of brake shoes several times strongly press a brake pedal. It is necessary in order that brake shoes reached the working position.
Check the level of brake fluid, if necessary add.
